The conference venue is in Ascona, a small town on Lake Maggiore in Ticino, the Italian speaking part of Switzerland. The former fishing village has become a popular holiday resort with a characteristic lake promenade, typical colorfully painted houses, Mediterranean ambience, palm trees and mild climate.
We anticipate all attendees staying at the Monte Verità hotel. The accommodation will be included in the registration fee. However, attendees are also welcome to stay at other nearby hotels if desired. Please contact us if you wish to register but stay at another location.
Monte Verità offers different facilities to host attendees, which can be checked in detail on the external page Monte Verità website.
Please note that the number of single rooms at the conference site hotel is limited; if you require a single room, we recommend you book one well in advance.
Sharing a bedroom with another participant will increase the chances of finding an available room at the conference site hotel. If you have a suggestion for the room sharing, you can indicate a name at the time of booking.

There are easy connections from Zurich and Basel to Locarno.

From Zurich you can choose between the following routes:
a) Motorway A2:
Gotthard - Bellinzona - Locarno (exit Lago Maggiore)
b) Motorway A13:
Chur - San Bernardino - Bellinzona - Locarno (exit Lago Maggiore)
From Locarno (exit Lago Maggiore) direction Ascona - (exit Ascona/Losone) take Viale Monte Verità (direction Ascona centre). Just before the sign "no passage" in front of the pedestrian area turn right (see picture above) on Strada Collina and follow the signs to Monte Verità up the hill. On Monte Verità there are about 50 parking spaces available.
Once in Locarno, you can reach Monte Verità as follows:
Free shuttle bus
A free 8-seater shuttle bus to Monte Verità will be available on arrival and departure days.
On the arrival day, shuttles will run from Locarno Station.
The shuttle bus stops next to the end of platform 4 (close to where public transport is leaving). Look for the white bus with the Monte Verità logo.
Public bus
Take bus no. 1 from Locarno railway station to the bus stop "Ascona Centro" (duration: 15 - 20 minutes). Please refer to the corresponding timetables.
Please note that the timetables of bus line no. 1 are different for Monday - Saturday (Lunedì - Sabato e feriali) and for Sundays and holidays (Domenica e festivi).
From the bus stop "Ascona Centro" you can reach Monte Verità in 25 - 30 minutes on foot (follow the "Strada Collina") or by taxi located next to the Autosilo Ascona.
Taxi
Various taxis are available at Locarno railway station.
The company "EcoTaxsi" usually has a slightly lower price, reservation required: +41 91 792 21 01 or 0800 321 321 (free call from Swiss numbers).
The ride takes about 15 minutes and costs about CHF 40.00.
